Twin Trails

Grade 1-3 (beginner) 295km

Why choose between the West Coast Wilderness Trail and The Great Taste Trail when you can experience both on one unforgettable cycling adventure? Cycle through the lush rainforests of the West Coast Wilderness Trail, then transition seamlessly to the sun-drenched vineyards and golden beaches of the Great Taste Trail – two of New Zealand’s most iconic cycling trails. Why not make the most of your trip and explore these breathtaking trails? These trails showcase two distinct landscapes, each offering its unique beauty. For those seeking even more adventure, add New Zealand’s newest cycling trail, the Kawatiri Coastal Trail, and take on the Big Three!

Getting here is easy, too. You can choose the scenic Tranz Alpine train to Greymouth, catch a direct flight to Hokitika from Christchurch, or even self-drive with your vehicle safely stored in Greymouth. With its third busiest airport in New Zealand, Nelson welcomes direct flights from all major cities. With our shuttle services, we can seamlessly transport you from one region to the other, arriving on the West Coast and departing via Nelson, so you can focus on what matters most—your ride.

The twin trails can be enjoyed in either direction—start in Nelson and head southwest, or go the other way for a reverse experience.

Let Kiwi Journeys take care of the details—from accommodation and bike hire to shuttles, luggage transfers, and ongoing support— while you enjoy the ride.
